If you’ve driven by 325 N. Ferry street, you’ve likely noticed the incredible transformation taking place thanks to Koster-Steigenga and their dedicated team of contractors!
Years ago, a young mother with three boys, all under school age, walked into Love in Action’s Client Hub on Ferry St. Her initial request was a simple one: food.
Judy recently shared her powerful journey in a film shown at a Love in Action (LIA) event, demonstrating the profound impact of community support.
Food is a critical need in our community. In fact, requests for food went up by 16% in the last year. The end of the year is a crucial time to make a difference through generosity, and food is one of the largest ways that LIA makes a difference.
At Love in Action, we offer dozens of services in a single location, but our work begins long before we provide a resource. When someone contacts us for help, we know they’re often facing fear, pain, and isolation. Our highest goal goes beyond simply providing resources; it’s to provide empowerment.
Dozens of donors have already given to help the LIA Storehouse launch. If you go by 325 N Ferry, you may see earth-moving equipment, painters, contractors and soon a refrigeration installation team. Things are really moving!
Food needs in our area have dramatically increased over the last few years. In 2024, Love in Action provided 544,000 meals to those in need, 16% more than in 2023.
When I was young, my small church would host missionaries annually. As they spoke of serving in distant lands, I remember vividly imagining the Serengeti’s elephants and zebras, or the Amazon’s crocodiles and piranhas.
The recent Love in Action Volunteer Appreciation Evening contained several inspiring stories; Kevin's stood out with its quiet power. He shared how his journey with LIA began at the Community Co-op, drawn in by a friend's positive experience with the Thrive education program.
We believe in the potential of each individual and seek to help people by not only meeting their needs but helping them discover their God-given gifts and abilities. Our mission is transforming lives by empowering people to thrive.
