Love in Action Community Co-op Thriving!

The Community Co-op is in its fourth month already. We are thrilled by the supportive community that is forming! Over 140 households are represented, with over 300 new members being served. Members are shopping for groceries at the Co-op Market as planned, but many are also volunteering and taking classes. Our dream for this space has always included relationships and connections. Seeing people enjoy coffee, connect with a volunteer or member and move into community with others is a true answer to prayer. 

Many have expressed their appreciation for the quality groceries that free up money to pay bills. Of the 14,000 food items distributed, over 20% have been fresh produce! For some, it has been the difference in not making the dreaded decision between housing costs and food. Tears are common, some sad and some happy. Yet, for each person there are kindred hearts to join them in grief, celebration and connection! Roger Snyder, member and volunteer, often brings friends to visit, always saying the same thing, “You’ll love it here. Every person is so nice and friendly.” 

Each member brings unique gifts and abilities to share, and we are so thankful. Often the members themselves support and encourage each other, using their own gifts to bless one another. Member and volunteer Kathy Peugh sums it up wonderfully: “I love the fact that I am going into a place and feeling wanted and needed and getting to meet the wonderful new and current folks enrolled in the program…I feel at home.”
