I started thinking about what retirement might look like as it got closer. With a background in manufacturing, I was unsure of what direction to go. I knew that I wanted to be intentional about how I spent my time. My daughters were a huge inspiration to me. They live their lives to serve others, encouraging me to do the same.
As retirement grew closer my wife, Paula, steered me toward Love in Action. With a strong reputation in the community, I had no hesitation about jumping in.
At the beginning of the pandemic, I taught my first Financial Fitness class online. Considering the uncertainty and circumstances, it went well. We focused on tracking spending, paying bills on time, saving for an emergency fund, etc. I enjoyed getting to know people as we navigated a new online environment.
I have since joined Love in Action’s Housing Ministry Collaborative team (HMC). It is a great team of people. We learn from each other while caring for those who come to us in need, helping them stay safe in their homes. I feel privileged to spend my time with such a wonderful organization and caring people.
