Food needs in our area have dramatically increased over the last few years. In 2024, Love in Action provided 544,000 meals to those in need, 16% more than in 2023. Since 2020 the need has doubled!
The challenge has been so significant that we wondered if we would be able to expand to meet the need. But last year your gifts, $281,000 in food funding, helped us to stay even in a year when we helped more people than any year before.
A few facts about LIA Food:
♥ 100% of your gift to the LIA Food Fund is used for food. Generous donors throughout the year provide the funding for the trucks, buildings and staff needed to procure, store and distribute the food.
♥ We only pay for about 15% of the food we distribute. This means LIA distributes over $2 million in actual food!
♥ Most LIA clients only access food occasionally. They are working to make ends meet themselves and only receive help as needed.
♥ Food is a way we can help people with a specific necessity, freeing funds for other needs, such as rent or transportation costs.
♥ The largest amount of LIA food flows through local church pantries—with at least one open each day of the work week throughout the Tri-Cities.
♥ Donations of actual food can be dropped off at 1106 Fulton Street Monday through Friday during business hours. An updated list of needed items is available on our website.
♥ The Storehouse Distribution Center at 325 N Ferry St will be the new home for LIA food with over double the storage and refrigeration space.
