A Baby Showered with Hope and Love

Sarah came to LIA after years of being homeless off and on. A very young mother-to-be, she had been raised by a parent
who had also been homeless. She came to Hope House and felt the love of the many residents and staff as they embraced her. After several months of living on site, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl at a local hospital. One of several babies in the house at the time, her new child immediately became the recipient of beautiful support from the other residents. Sarah shared her thanks and her joy that both she and her new baby could be so loved, as the other women cared for her. Eventually she was able to reunite with a family member who welcomed her and her baby into their home. The reconciliation was joyful. We are so thankful for Sarah and her young daughter’s growth.

One of LIA’s goals is to stop cyclical poverty—the form of poverty that moves from one generation to another, affecting children and even grandchildren. Sarah came to Hope House as an example of someone whose situation and family had created a downward spiral that resulted in homelessness. Stopping this cycle came with a new hope for her and her infant daughter!
